This infographic CPAN aims to give an overall picture of the complexity and the dynamics that can trap people in a situation of chronic poverty, and to suggest the cross-cutting policy areas that need to be taken into account when aiming at tackling chronic poverty, stop impoverishment, build sustained escape from poverty.

Andrew Shepherd attended the USAID Summit on Ending Extreme Poverty for senior USAID staff in May in Washington D.C., with a draft USAID Vision on Ending Extreme Poverty on the table, and presented the Chronic Poverty Report 2014-5 on getting to zero extreme poverty, as well as the ODI Poverty, Disasters and Climate Extremes 2030 Report. The purpose was to help lay out the programming challenge, and to highlight the interaction between poverty and climate change-induced disasters.

The 2015 edition of the report “Combining Finance and Policies to implement a transformative Post-2015 Development Agenda” was led by Dirk Willem te Welde at ODI and involved other European research institutes. CPAN (Andrew Shepherd and Chiara Mariotti) contributed to Chapter 6 “The link between finance and policies for selected enablers”.
